About the artist

Pedro Pedro

Pedro Pedro (b. 1986) is a California-based artist known for his vibrant paintings where he turns everyday objects, such as socks or house keys, into lively characters. Pedro excludes human figures in his paintings, and instead focuses on still-life, where he integrates a loose approach with bold colors to create depth and space in his compositions. To achieve highly vivid colors in his paintings, Pedro uses textile paints, opposed to acrylic paints, since it soaks more color into the raw linen. Pedro reinvents the still-life genre, often in a humorous style, by using funky shapes and electric colors to reimagine the mundane. He chooses objects that he interacts with daily and attempts to animate these inanimate items, making them seem as if they are popping off the canvas.

Pedro Pedro currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California. He has shown in numerous group shows with Superchief Gallery in Manhattan, La Luz de Jesus gallery in Los Angeles, and Transmitter Gallery in Brooklyn.
